In addition to a notebook, you may also wish to keep a journal. You can use a journal for writing down homework assignments, dates and details about important things such as exams and deadlines for projects, and making to-do lists. You can keep a journal for non-schoolastic purposes too. If you're into poetry, you can use your journal for writing poems (weather they're for an English class or written in your own free time). If you're a songwriter, you can use your journal for writing new songs. You can even use your journal to write down details about your personal life or your day at school. (CAUTION: If you're going to write about things like crushes or secrets, please make sure you keep your journal out of the sight of other students. You don't want this kind of information to wind up in the wrong hands.)

Throughout the semester, you're going to be given tons of papers, handouts, work sheets, tests, ect. Not to mention your class schedule which you'll need on the first day (and if you're like me, you'll want to hang on to that for a while). If you simply just shove all of these papers into your school bag, they will end up getting lost, torn, wrinkled, crushed, unreadable, or otherwise damaged (and if it's something you need to give back to your teacher, this could be a big problem). The solution? Get a cute folder to store all your important papers in and stay organized.

Like folders, binders can also be a great way to keep organized. In fact, you can even put your folder into the rings of your binder if the folder has holes punched in it. You can also put a notebook with holes into the binder rings as well as any handouts that have holes punched in. So not only are binders good for keeping your papers organized, they keep other school supplies organized as well. What else can you use a binder for? If you run out of pages to write on in your notebook, you can get some loose leaf paper and insert it into your binder. This way, you can take notes on the loose leaf paper and not have to worry about your notes getting lost.
